Fala Chen represented "greedy" for "Seven Sins" photoshoot

Sunday, 23 June 2013

Kevin Mayao, a new art director, will be launching his photo book Seven Deadly Sins in July. He partnered with photographer CK Chan, fashion magazine editor and invited celebrities -- Fala Chen, Christine Fan, Janice Man, Jade Kwan, Ella Koon and Amber Kuo to portray the different sins. After settling with the different styles, the team responsible for the background and costume design got to work and produced a set of unique photos.

Lying in a tub filled with paper money, Fala represented the "greed" sin. She was dressed like a pretty and flirtatious woman in the photo shoot. She looked very different from how she previously looked on-screen. "Blackie" Chen Chien Chou's wife Christine Fan portrayed the "sloth" sin. In a gorgeous stage set, she was like the sleeping beauty. Janice Man puts on a golden wig to accompany her Peugeot facial features; She looked like a puppet representing the "wrath" sin. Ella Koon was the "gluttony" (greedy eater), Jade Kwan was the "envy" sin and Amber Kuo was the "pride" sin. All costumes were breakthroughs for the ladies.

[On.cc] Kevin Mayao expressed he's been outlining this photo book for half a year; he wanted to bring the Western feel into it and make it fun. Why did he choose Seven Deadly Sins? Kevin said: "Many people have these sins, but we can have a lot of fun out of these sins. Just like Jade Kwan's 'envy' sin. People always say she's really jealous of others because she didn't get any awards, but that is actually not the case. I asked her to portray this sin to demonstrate nothing is wrong. Among the 7 sins, I think the most challenging one is 'greed', so I asked Fala to portray this sin. I wanted to find an actress who can display the right eye expression and bring out the limbs." Kevin expressed he was overjoyed by the unexpected surprise that Christine Fan and Amber Kuo agreed to participate. He said: "I actually don't know them. I just talked to their managers. They read the summary I sent them and agreed. The two made a special trip to HK from Taiwan just to do this photo shoot. I was so touched."

Thoughts: WOW. Amazing work.

Fala Chen still has no desire to resign with TVB

Monday, 10 June 2013

[no repost allow]

[News] Tony Leung, Gordon Lam and Fala Chen attended a haunted "fantasy night" downtown Hong Kong held by Simon Yam. A group of actor acted out scenes and was arranged to wear Zhizha doll's make-up to create an atmosphere of the night.

As for the lead Gordon Lam and Fala Chen revealed that the two have very intense emotional scenes in the drama, Gordon excitedly said: "Filming this drama, we love some very, very, very, intense scenes." (Will there be any bed scenes or kissing scenes?) "Let me tell you about love, it does not concentrate in bed, but it can be intense in many ways."

In addition, Fala Chen said that starting next week she will head back to the United States and become a student, but when Triumph in the Skies 2 airs, she will try to return to Hong Kong for promotional events. Again, speaking of contract with TVB, Fala said: "Now I want to return to school and relax, almost a decade I have not return to campus, really looking forward to it, I don't want any contract to get intact at the moment, I just hope to concentrate on learning."

Thoughts:  Still a bit confused about what Gordon said haha... Intense? Any who, I hope Fala will have a peaceful 2 to 3 weeks of rest cause by the 29th she's back functioning.

Da Mo Yao rumored to be banish from broadcasting

Friday, 7 June 2013

[News] It's been a year passed since Da Mo Yao completed filming but the drama has no announcement of broadcasting or air on network yet. Rumors has it, the drama can't get approval from SARFT, but lately rumor that Da Mo Yao has been banished by SARFT and will not be airing at all. Apparently Tangren went ahead and started filming before pre-approval came down from SARFT, and ultimately its subject matter in discussing real life historical figures such as General Huo Qu Bing and Emperor Wu of Han Liu Che in a certain way was unacceptable to the agency. There's plenty of dramas with angled historical figures have aired so it's unclear why SARFT's are focus over this drama. Tangren released one concept trailer for this drama but not any other.

Thoughts: a bit disappointed hearing this news, I have a feeling they will only release it on DVDs instead of broadcasting it on tv. Oh well, Tangren is too complicated.

Fala Chen will study in US, but will be responsible for Triumph 2 promotions

Tuesday, 4 June 2013

Lately there's been many confusion about Fala's schedule in studying in US and contract with TVB. For the promotions of Triumph in the Skies 2, Fala accept a telephone interview: "Actually, I am studying, there's many rumors about the promotion and schedule conflict, and I as an actor, it's my responsibility to attend. My first event will be in Malaysia at the end of June, I will fly straight from New York to Malaysia."

(Earn extra money with more promotions?) "I don't know, I'll be notified, its nice to catch up with friends in NY and I don't want to leave. Also, it's hard to be in New York and while promoting in Hong Kong, tickets are too expensive."

Fala Chen enjoying freelance, not ready to renew contract

Thursday, 30 May 2013

Director Peter Chan's new film American Dreams in China (中國合伙人) held its film premiere last night and invited many good friends including Fala Chen, Nick Cheung, Jacky Cheung, Eric Tsang, Tony Leung Kar Fai, Shawn Yue, Anita Yuen and Kenny Bee.

Earlier the media spotted Fala shooting director Gordon Chan's new horror film Tales Dark 1 & 2. Fala's TVB contract just expired and she attended the premiere last night as a freelance artist. She smiled and said she isn't used to it yet. Fala is planning to take a summer course in the U.S and won't make a decision on the contract until she gets back. When asked if she wants to switch to the film industry? She said: "Of course, I wish for more opportunities, the more the better. I hope for more challenges in my work and the most important is a good script! (Use money in exchange for a TVB best actress award?) No! Absolutely not! My relationship with TVB is not about money!" When speaking of the recent rumors that she got into a dispute with Virgina Lok over the contract? Fala responded awkwardly: "I haven't heard about that. Not sure! We still chat!"

Steven Ma hopes to collaborate with Fala Chen again

Steven Ma said: "I haven't experienced the 8 hours of rest time yet, perhaps the benefits won't start until 2014." Dressed in a Chinese tunic suit, Steven resembled Damian Lau's role 'Kam Chan Sai' in his 1980 series Yesterday's Glitter. Steven said: "I liked Damian's role back then, it is my dream to portray 'Chan Sai'. In 2014, I hope to collaborate with Fala Chen in Yesterday's Glitter, then that would fulfill my dream. I actually suggested to TVB before on making a new version of this series, so I could have the opportunity to portray 'Chan Sai' and Fala can be Liza Wang's role, Ho Yin Chau." However, Fala may be leaving TVB soon, so his dream may not come true. Steven confidently said: "Even I could come back and film a TVB series!"

Thoughts: I think freelance would be more enjoying for the long run. All of Fala's upcoming dramas and film is airing this year, haha.

Fala Chen participate in Gordon Chan's horror film

Monday, 27 May 2013

Tales from the Dark 1 & 2 is considered a heavyweight film, since it is produced by the award-winning film Cold War producer Matthew Tang. There are a total of six small stories in the two-part film, each directed by HK film industry's big players Gordon Chan, Fruit Chan, Lawrence Lau, Teddy Robin, Simon Yam and Lee Chai Ngai. The horror film stars Kelly Chen, Tony Leung (Kar Fai), Maggie Siu and Dada Chan.

Yesterday at 6AM, Fala appeared at North Point dressed in a long blue dress with her long scattered hair and light makeup. At the scene, Fala had a restless and agitated expression on her face and carried an old styled grocery bag loitering on the street. It looks like all that training she received from TVB paid off, she acted like a female ghost while the cameras rolled and looked very much into character. In between scenes, she listened to director Gordon Chan's instructions intently, demonstrating her professionalism.

Gordon Lam Praises Fala's Professionalism

Gordon Lam has many scenes opposite of Fala, yesterday he accepted a telephone interview and praised Fala's professionalism. He said: "She performed very well, placed a lot of effort into it and did all her homework. This film is a huge challenge to both Fala and myself because we both have two different types of extreme emotions to convey. I think Fala was able to deliver and performed very well! (You're very pleased with Fala's performance?) I am very pleased with the whole crew's efforts." Fala and Gordon both started out as television artists and then switched to the film scene, did Gordon give Fala any tips? Gordon laughed: "She's so hardworking, it's really not necessary! Actually me and her cooperate well, we're able to create something new together."

Also, in regards to the rumor that Fala is moving into the film scene after her TVB contract expires? Fala's spokesperson expressed: "Fala is concentrating purely on filming, all interviews will be arranged by the film production company."

extra news: a lovely weibo friend of mine (Bessip), works with Fala, shared that the filming process took almost month. (also thanks Bessip for always share news and updates on Fala, your such a sweet girl.)

Thoughts: such many negative comments about Fala, I think it's no one's business. Every actor in this showbiz wants to try new things and earn money. There's no free lunch for anybody, I respect Fala for her high ambitions and if she wants to rest or keep working it's no one's business.

p.s. she's doing heck of a good job playing a ghost (haha) look

TVB makes 'Will Power' an Anniversary Series Attempting to Keep Fala Chen & Moses Chan

Friday, 24 May 2013

[News] Fala Chen's TVB contract is expiring this month, but it is still unknown whether she plans to renew or not. Lately there has also been rumors that Moses Chan intends to head up north to work in Mainland. Due to these factors, TVB decided to make Fala and Moses' new series Will Power the anniversary series this year in hope to keep them. Yesterday Fala expressed she still has not lifted the pen to sign the contract yet, she said: "TVB gave me many choices, we are still negotiating and thus nothing is confirmed yet." Fala added their meetings have been pleasant and because of the relationship, she will take TVB into consideration first. Since Will Power is an anniversary series, is she hopeful to get the TV Queen title? Fala said: "I'll be very happy if its really an anniversary series, more audience will be watching. However, the contract and awards are two separate things, I will not tie them together. I'm discussing the contract because I hope for improvements in acting." Fala expressed there won't be too much of a pay raise when filming TVB series.

Also, it had been widely rumored Fala broke up with her Neway Prince boyfriend Sit Sai Hang. Last night suddenly wrote on Weibo: "Lately there has been a very popular saying: 'Take it serious, then you'll lose'. But I want to say, 'Don't take it serious, then you're destined to lose.'" Her statement inevitably increases the speculation.
