Fala Chen - Have Enough Courage for Change

Some people often put 'Change' at the tip of their tongue, but often there are no actions made. On discussion forums, Fala Chen is known as 'Fala BB', a goddess who is already standing firm in TV and film, and recently became a singer. Aside from going after the TV Queen award, she's not even going to let go of the Most Popular Female Singer! Fala said before she had no ambitions, but she's actually been the choir since youth and had dreams of becoming a singer. This dream started even before her wish to be TV Queen: "I really like to sing. I wanted to be a singer earlier on. From middle school to college, I've been a member in the choir and always go out for performances. I really enjoyed it."

Solo Unfolds Her True Self

Chorus and solo are two different things. Fala's love for solo singing started from chorus: "When I was studying in college, I was very busy, but no matter how busy I was, I still wanted to sing in the choir! That time, I started doing musicals and had a solo, it was one of the happiest moments in my life!" Reality is cruel, after entering the entertainment circle, Fala participated in at least three series per year, and she had commercials and other stage performances: "I was really busy the last several years, didn't even have time to eat. Luckily I had a few opportunities to do stage performances and sing. It was not only then that people discovered that Fala can sing! In fact, it's really about fate that I could be a singer, TVB had been helping me find a record company all along and at the same time Stars Shine wanted to recruit singers. Stars Shine really has put in a lot of resources on me. They didn't care whether if they would make any money or not. I knew this opportunity isn't bad, and if I miss it, I don't know when there will be another opportunity!"

Charging into TV, Film & Music

In the past, Fala only sang other people's songs. Today, she has her own songs and excitedly said: "It feels good! It's like a dream to have my own songs! I know I'm still far from being a professional singer, but I didn't know how to act before either. It's through all the training, that I am where I am today. I have confidence that I can do it! As an actress, I pretend to be someone else, but as a singer, I can be myself and truly display the real Fala!" She believed success or failure does not lie in whether if she makes money or not: "Does it have to be that my album sells well and that my songs are a great hit, that I'm considered successful? If I don't try new things, then how will I know if I can do it or not? Becoming a singer is a dream of mines, now that my dream has come true, I have nothing to lose!" When asked if she does well in both the TV and music scene, how will she choose between the two? The greedy Fala said: "Are there any heavenly kings or superstars that don't find a balance in different fields? I really hope one day I can have agony on whether I should be a singer or an actress, I would tell myself, I want to do both!"

[Excerpt from Apple Daily] Nowadays singers' standards can really be heavily criticized, Teresa Carpio once said being a singer is easy, but they may not necessarily know how to sing. Fala agrees. First time performing live on JSG, she was very nervous and resulted in heavy criticisms on her getting off-key. Fala views this experience as a benefit: "When I sang live at events before, I sang other people's songs to entertain the audience, that's not as stressful because I wasn't a singer then. Many times, my thoughts about a performance is the same as acting. If I can't concentrate and get into character and the story, then I won't be able to cry. On JSG that time, I learned a lesson that I must have a 100% good performance in the future. If I'm not at the right state before going on stage, then I will start feeling afraid on stage. Soon after, that same week, I performed live again and I did better. My heart was not beating as fast, haha. It feels like after the first kiss. On the second kiss, you won't feel as nervous!"

Fala learned a lesson and reflected on it. She knows she needs time to improve: "Reality won't allow me to be like Teresa Carpio, train for several decades, so I can only do my best and learn from each experience and make improvements. I believe even a person who really knows how to sing, being on stage for the first time, they will be very nervous as well." [Apple Daily]

Epilogue: Beautiful and Sweet Voice

The frequent saying: "a beautiful person with a sweet voice", just how good is the beautiful Fala's singing voice? [Oriental Daily] reporter asked Fala to perform something quick live on the spot for her to listen to, so she could record it as a ringtone. Fala hummed Bird Has Fallen. (English equivalent: London Bridges Is Falling Down) Fala's high notes were sweet, medium notes were accurate and her low notes were strong! This became the reporter's ringtone! Fala Chen on Myolie and Bosco's break up: "Hoping they'll move forward"

Fala Chen attended a coffee shop promotion yesterday, showing her flexible figure and legs and displaying her active power. She revealed the positive shifts of TVB drama "Triumph in the Skies: "Reading the scripts, I have a good feeling, yesterday the whole group of artistes gather around reading the scripts together, Julian Cheung, the first time collaboration was tense, but everyone is formal and interact well while filming." Triumph in the Skies 2 Blessing Ceremony

Awws, fresh couple... ♥

- 40 episodes long.
- The story will be a continuation of the first installment. In this installment, the name of the airline company is Skylette Airlines (天頌航空).
- There will be location filming in England, France, Taiwan, and Sanya.
- Francis Ng (Samuel Tong Yik Sam/唐亦琛) and Julian Cheung (Ku Ha Yeung/顧夏陽) will have a mature men's friendship. They are on the same wavelength, and there is also some competition. They will be involved in a love triangle with Fala Chen.
- Julian will play a dashing senior pilot. He is a player who is uninhibited in work and life. He has many females surrounding him.
- Myolie Wu will play two characters (Zoe So Yi/蘇怡; Ha San/夏晨). Zoe has passed away; she will appear for a couple episodes in Francis' memory sequences. The new character, Julian's younger sister, is an airplane technician who has a boyish personality and is not good at communicating with others; she will have a romantic storyline with Ron Ng, but he is slightly resistant to having a relationship with his 'sister-in-law'.
- Fala (Ho Nin Hei/何年希) will play a pilot. She was born and raised in England. She and Francis are initially an arguing pair, but he later becomes her mentor. Afterward, she will have a romantic storyline with Julian. She, Francis, and Julian cannot let go of the 'shadow lover' in their hearts, thereby causing struggles.
- Francis has an attachment to his dead wife. Fala's ex-boyfriend also passed away, and she also has an attachment to her ex-boyfriend. Julian bears a resemblance to Fala's ex-boyfriend.
- Ron (Issac Tong Yik Fung/唐亦風) will be promoted to First Officer. He and Francis have become more like friends, so they are get along even more comfortably with each other.
- Kenneth Ma (Roy Ko Chi Wang/高志宏) will be promoted to First Officer. His romantic storyline will have a sense of the times. He will have an older sister and younger brother relationship with Elena Kong. He has a 'ready-to-eat' attitude, and he will have one-night stands.

Chilam Cheung a playboy pilot: "Disallow? Then Divorce"

Chilam Cheung, Francis Ng, Fala Chen, Myolie Wu, Him Law and the rest of the cast of Triumph in the Skies II attended the blessing ceremony. TVB boss Chan Kwok Keung, high executives Virgina Lok and Au Wai Lam attended to support them as well. Chilam expressed in the series, he's a playboy pilot, but when asked if his wife Anita Yuen approves of that? He said: "If she doesn't allow, then I'm divorcing her! (Ask her to guest star?) She's too busy, she's gone elsewhere to work. (Get hot girls to be your girlfriends?) Hot girls are in the heart, the hottest is my wife." Chilam expressed he suggested to the producer that they could ask his beautiful good friends to guest star as his girlfriends. Standing besides him was Francis, who joked he should go to the Book Fair and find a Lengmo to guest star. On the contrary, Francis said he only has one girl in the series coming near him, he said: "I only have one god-daughter, Toby Leung. She's the producer Tommy Leung's daughter and married! I will keep my distance to avoid the media writing nonsense about us."

Also, currently troubled by his relationship with Viann Zhang, Ron Ng was absent yesterday due to being ill. As his on-screen partner, Myolie Wu, was asked if he takes off sick every time he encounters trouble in his relationship? Myolie laughed: "I'm not sure what reason it is, but the only thing I could do is give him more love in the series. But, men should be able to 'pick it up and put it down'. Thoughts: Looks well manage, I don't see the point of Myolie sacrificing her hair, again. It's short enough. Ron was sick and absent from the event. Solar Airways sounded so much better.  Stewardess costumes are too dull. Like LEGIT 4 love triangles in one sequel.

Samantha Ko and Fala Chen Forbid Young Models from Going to Book Fair

Fala Chen did a recording for "Neighborhood Treasures". With regard to Kenneth saying that Sammy Leung was biased in helping pretty girls, [she] disagreed, "I even wrongly called them Sam Yee Siu Mei...why would he favour me?" On the other hand, Samantha Ko expressed having originally inviting Sammy to write a foreword for her new book, but was rejected, so do not think that Sammy would be biased: "Instead, Fala wrote one for me". Both the pretty girls expressed that the young models now are a bad influence on children...should disappear from the book fair.

Fala Chen was beat by father for being a naughty student

Last night, Fala Chen and Raymond Lam attended The Night Before Exam Results' Release event hosted by apm in support of the Hong Kong student taking exams. Fala said when she was in middle school, she was already studying overseas, so she never experienced this type of pressure of waiting for the examination results to release, but she did have a different type of pressure. Fala said: "Although we don't have that great of a pressure overseas, but waiting for the colleges to send acceptance letters is actually pretty stressful too. When you see a large envelope in the mail, then you would be really happy and feel relieved because college acceptance letters aren't in small envelopes."

Has she encountered any setbacks back in her school days? Fala laughed: "When I was young, I was very naughty. I remember when I was in still Mainland, in the first grade, I got a 0% on one of my tests, so I was unwilling to put my name on it and refused to turn it in. When I got home, I got hit by my father. Since then, when I got to middle school, I started behaving and my grades started going up as well. However, when I attended college in the States, I got my freedom back, freely going and in out of he classrooms, there was no pressure."

As for Raymond, he has also experienced the pressure of waiting for the exam results. He attended middle school in Hong Kong and only had average test scores. He said: "No matter what, the most important is that I've put in my greatest effort. Its important to have support from loved ones, and shouldn't give too much pressure. I remember when I was in middle school, I rarely went out late at nights, but the day before the results are released, my parents would allow me to have a day of fun."

Raymond hopes every student finds their right direction. He has been through it and can be their example. Back then, he was not used to going to school in the States, and left college before he completed his degree. Fortunately he didn't take the wrong direction by entering the entertainment circle. He has been working in his first job until today, so studying is not everything, knowledge is just to set the foundation for the future.           

     

Triumph in the Skies 2 Press Conference

After 9 years since Triumph in the Skies, the sequel Triumph in the Skies II is finally starting. Yesterday Francis Ng, Chilam Cheung, Myolie Wu, Fala Chen, Ron Ng, Kenneth Ma, Rebecca Zhu, Elena Kong and the rest of the cast attended the press conference.

Back then, there were rumors that Francis Ng was displeased with Myolie, but yesterday they chatted happily. Francis even teased that Myolie looks fatter than before. He also said to Ron: "You came early!" indirectly criticizing that he used to be late to work. Ron expressed: "Francis and I still have a brotherly relationship, but I'm no longer the young man 10 years ago, our relationship evolved into a friendship and we get along more comfortably."

Francis hasn't been in a TVB series for many years, he smiled and said: "I'm getting a huge raise." He also denied the rumor that he was delaying TITS2 from starting. It was said TVB is relying on him to save the lack of Siu Sangs? Francis expressed: "Wah! I have a lot of Siu Sangs behind me!" He is not worried about working with newcomers, but he fears he may break his promise and come late to work. Francis exposed back when he was shooting TITS, he had a naughty idea to get out of work. Because shooting was too exhausting, he and the others played 'rock paper scissors' to see who would have to pretend to be sick, so they can get a day off from work. At the time, Myolie was still a newcomer, so she didn't participate and had to get to work early.

Chilam sets the next 6 months aside to shoot TITS2 and has turned down several opportunities to shoot in Mainland, losing quite a bit of money. He frankly expressed he accepted this series to return a favor, because back then, executive Tommy Leung, casted him in Cold Blood Warm Heart and got him a lot more job opportunities. This time, he's playing a senior pilot and plans to use clothing from his own personal wardrobe, which is worth about 6 figures. When asked if he's paying TVB, instead of TVB paying him? Chilam laughed: "Because of Tommy, doing it for the audience, no choice, I'm just too good friends with Tommy."

Myolie plays two roles in the series. She exposed Zoe will only appear in the first two episodes and then she dies. Her other role is a tomboy, who works in aircraft maintenance. The producer asked her to cut her hair short for the role, but Myolie is reluctant to give up her current haircut, but for the sake of work, she will accept it.

In the series Fala gets into a love triangle with Francis and Chilam, but she doesn't know who she'll end up with yet. Fala said her development with Francis starts off as a bickering pair, while Chilam is the charming pilot who has a romantic storyline with her. She's unsure if there are any kiss scenes, she laughed: "Perhaps when we get to France, in the romantic atmosphere, we'll go for a light kiss. I'm not too worried since there's a television scale."

Kenneth Ma develops a 'sister-brother love' with Elena Kong. He expressed in reality he does not mind this type of relationship, women does not necessarily need men to take care of her, it could be vice versa. He also said he can accept a girlfriend 20 years older than him too, but he never been in such a relationship before.

TITS2's blessing ceremony is scheduled to take place on July 24th and filming officially starts on July 26th. Filming will go on for 6 months, and filming locations will be in London, Paris, Hainan and Taiwan.
