Fala Chen enjoying freelance, not ready to renew contract

Thursday, 30 May 2013

Director Peter Chan's new film American Dreams in China (中國合伙人) held its film premiere last night and invited many good friends including Fala Chen, Nick Cheung, Jacky Cheung, Eric Tsang, Tony Leung Kar Fai, Shawn Yue, Anita Yuen and Kenny Bee.

Earlier the media spotted Fala shooting director Gordon Chan's new horror film Tales Dark 1 & 2. Fala's TVB contract just expired and she attended the premiere last night as a freelance artist. She smiled and said she isn't used to it yet. Fala is planning to take a summer course in the U.S and won't make a decision on the contract until she gets back. When asked if she wants to switch to the film industry? She said: "Of course, I wish for more opportunities, the more the better. I hope for more challenges in my work and the most important is a good script! (Use money in exchange for a TVB best actress award?) No! Absolutely not! My relationship with TVB is not about money!" When speaking of the recent rumors that she got into a dispute with Virgina Lok over the contract? Fala responded awkwardly: "I haven't heard about that. Not sure! We still chat!"

Steven Ma hopes to collaborate with Fala Chen again

Steven Ma said: "I haven't experienced the 8 hours of rest time yet, perhaps the benefits won't start until 2014." Dressed in a Chinese tunic suit, Steven resembled Damian Lau's role 'Kam Chan Sai' in his 1980 series Yesterday's Glitter. Steven said: "I liked Damian's role back then, it is my dream to portray 'Chan Sai'. In 2014, I hope to collaborate with Fala Chen in Yesterday's Glitter, then that would fulfill my dream. I actually suggested to TVB before on making a new version of this series, so I could have the opportunity to portray 'Chan Sai' and Fala can be Liza Wang's role, Ho Yin Chau." However, Fala may be leaving TVB soon, so his dream may not come true. Steven confidently said: "Even I could come back and film a TVB series!"

Thoughts: I think freelance would be more enjoying for the long run. All of Fala's upcoming dramas and film is airing this year, haha.

Fala Chen participate in Gordon Chan's horror film

Monday, 27 May 2013

Tales from the Dark 1 & 2 is considered a heavyweight film, since it is produced by the award-winning film Cold War producer Matthew Tang. There are a total of six small stories in the two-part film, each directed by HK film industry's big players Gordon Chan, Fruit Chan, Lawrence Lau, Teddy Robin, Simon Yam and Lee Chai Ngai. The horror film stars Kelly Chen, Tony Leung (Kar Fai), Maggie Siu and Dada Chan.

Yesterday at 6AM, Fala appeared at North Point dressed in a long blue dress with her long scattered hair and light makeup. At the scene, Fala had a restless and agitated expression on her face and carried an old styled grocery bag loitering on the street. It looks like all that training she received from TVB paid off, she acted like a female ghost while the cameras rolled and looked very much into character. In between scenes, she listened to director Gordon Chan's instructions intently, demonstrating her professionalism.

Gordon Lam Praises Fala's Professionalism

Gordon Lam has many scenes opposite of Fala, yesterday he accepted a telephone interview and praised Fala's professionalism. He said: "She performed very well, placed a lot of effort into it and did all her homework. This film is a huge challenge to both Fala and myself because we both have two different types of extreme emotions to convey. I think Fala was able to deliver and performed very well! (You're very pleased with Fala's performance?) I am very pleased with the whole crew's efforts." Fala and Gordon both started out as television artists and then switched to the film scene, did Gordon give Fala any tips? Gordon laughed: "She's so hardworking, it's really not necessary! Actually me and her cooperate well, we're able to create something new together."

Also, in regards to the rumor that Fala is moving into the film scene after her TVB contract expires? Fala's spokesperson expressed: "Fala is concentrating purely on filming, all interviews will be arranged by the film production company."

extra news: a lovely weibo friend of mine (Bessip), works with Fala, shared that the filming process took almost month. (also thanks Bessip for always share news and updates on Fala, your such a sweet girl.)

Thoughts: such many negative comments about Fala, I think it's no one's business. Every actor in this showbiz wants to try new things and earn money. There's no free lunch for anybody, I respect Fala for her high ambitions and if she wants to rest or keep working it's no one's business.

p.s. she's doing heck of a good job playing a ghost (haha) look

TVB makes 'Will Power' an Anniversary Series Attempting to Keep Fala Chen & Moses Chan

Friday, 24 May 2013

[News] Fala Chen's TVB contract is expiring this month, but it is still unknown whether she plans to renew or not. Lately there has also been rumors that Moses Chan intends to head up north to work in Mainland. Due to these factors, TVB decided to make Fala and Moses' new series Will Power the anniversary series this year in hope to keep them. Yesterday Fala expressed she still has not lifted the pen to sign the contract yet, she said: "TVB gave me many choices, we are still negotiating and thus nothing is confirmed yet." Fala added their meetings have been pleasant and because of the relationship, she will take TVB into consideration first. Since Will Power is an anniversary series, is she hopeful to get the TV Queen title? Fala said: "I'll be very happy if its really an anniversary series, more audience will be watching. However, the contract and awards are two separate things, I will not tie them together. I'm discussing the contract because I hope for improvements in acting." Fala expressed there won't be too much of a pay raise when filming TVB series.

Also, it had been widely rumored Fala broke up with her Neway Prince boyfriend Sit Sai Hang. Last night suddenly wrote on Weibo: "Lately there has been a very popular saying: 'Take it serious, then you'll lose'. But I want to say, 'Don't take it serious, then you're destined to lose.'" Her statement inevitably increases the speculation.
